20 Recap (& Gown) On Sunday, June 28, 2009, AULA held its 37th Commencement Ceremony at Royce Hall in Westwood. More than 250 graduates from our B. A. and Master's programs and our Bridge Program students celebrated their accomplishments before a full house of friends, family, faculty, and staff. Student speakers from each program addressed the crowd, and commencement speaker Ed Begley, Jr. ( actor and environmental activist) shared his thoughts on the environmental challenges facing our larger community, stressing the important role energy conservation will play in creating a more sustainable future. ( The takeaway? Compact fluorescent light bulbs really are key!) Mark your calendars for AULA's 38th Annual Commencement Ceremony: Sunday, June 27th, 2010 3pm at Royce Hall Westwood 20 AULA ConectionDr. Warren Bennis commencement 2009 , Dr. Warren Bennis, Antioch College alumnus and AULA Board of Trustees member emeritus, was presented with an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters at this year's commencement ceremony. Dr. Bennis is the founding chairman of USC's Leadership Institute, distinguished professor of business administration at the USC Marshall School of Business, and advisory board chairman of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard's Kennedy School. One of the world's foremost experts on leadership, Dr. Bennis has written 30 books and numerous articles on leadership, change, and creative collaboration. His book, Leaders, was designated by the Financial Times as one of the top 50 business books of all time, and he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for " An Invented Life."
