We are dedicated to living our mission each and every day - as we all strive to empower ourselves and others, to act responsibly and to affect personal, social, and environmental change within a global context. AULA Mision Statement Antioch University Los Angeles provides rigorous progressive education to prepare students for the complexities of today's diverse societies. Combining dynamic scholarship and creative endeavor with experiential learning and reflective practice, AULA fosters personal and collective agency, global citizenship, and socially conscious leadership. AULA's Student Action Network ( SAN) is proud to have partnered with the South Central Farmers to bring a Community Supported Agriculture ( CSA) program to our campus in Culver City. Much like AULA, the South Central Farmers are committed to engaging and empowering their surrounding community. With the CSA program, boxes of local, organic produce are available each week to anyone in the community ( at AULA and beyond) for only $ 15! Community Supported Agriculture is a relatively new idea that has been gaining popularity in the U. S. since its introduction in the mid- 1980s. There are currently more than 400 CSA locations throughout the country, mostly in urban areas where access to fresh fruits and vegetables can be limited. Several years ago, the South Central Farmers ( who originally farmed on land located in south central Los Angeles), were embroiled in a bitter dispute over their land. They were eventually evicted, and have since found new land and a renewed mission. We are an official South Central Farmers CSA location. Any interested community member can order CSA boxes online, and then come to campus on Wednesday afternoon for pickup. Orders must be placed online ( www. scfcoop. southcentralfarmers. com) by midnight on Monday evenings and will be available for pickup the following Wednesday on campus ( 400 Corporate Pointe, Culver City).
